Dina Kouvelou

Ms Dina Kouvelou is a Partner and co-head of our Firm’s TMT and Competition Law Practices.

She provides senior legal advice on various regulatory, corporate & competition law issues, covering also administrative & commercial law aspects, and focusing to a significant extent on the telecommunications and technology sectors. Her practice also includes corporate/commercial litigation and she serves as general counsel for corporations and organizations across a variety of industries.

During the last 15 years, Dina’s professional career has spanned regulatory policy, competition law and corporate/commercial law experience in, amongst others, the following roles: General Counsel and Head of Legal & Regulatory Affairs in a leading alternative fixed telecoms operator and in a mobile operator in Greece; senior competition law and regulatory policy advisor in the Legal Department of the National Regulatory Authority (E.E.T.T.); legal consultant in regulatory, competition law and commercial law projects with Greek and international law firms and consultancies.

Her professional experience covers every aspect of telecommunications and technology regulation. Relevant regulatory experience includes handling a large number of formal proceedings before the EETT (prosecution/defense in complaints and dispute resolution hearings) initially as a member of EETT hearing committees and consequently as representative of operators.

In addition to telecoms regulatory issues, she focuses to a significant effect on e-commerce, information security, risk management and data privacy issues. Dina also has vast experience of large outsourcing IT projects and advises clients on every aspect concerning: software licensing; online payment; interactive entertainment; cloud based services; advertising and consumer protection issues.

Dina is also involved in all aspects of corporate governance and is active in corporate transactions (mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures), as well as change of control transactions. She counsels businesses in connection with structuring, drafting and negotiating transactions that include shareholders’ agreements; supply and distribution agreements; marketing; outsourcing. She advises on a wide variety of commercial agreements – for example, agency and distribution, outsourcing, facilities management, franchising, advertising, sponsorship, marketing, standard terms of business – and all aspects of trading law, including unfair contract terms, consumer law, product liability and trading standards.

Dina’s competition law practice encompasses antitrust issues relating to abuse of dominance, restrictive agreements, IP, sector inquiries and private enforcement, cartels, merger control and joint ventures. She provides strategic and policy advice to clients in regulatory matters affecting a wide range of sectors. Her litigation experience includes, inter alia, claims for refusals to supply, abusive pricing, market dominance, predation, leveraging, bundling and tying.
