Ms Marilena Athanasiadi is a Partner and co-head of our Firm’s Corporate/Commercial and Employment Law Practices.
She provides senior legal advice on various regulatory, financial, corporate & business law issues, covering also administrative & commercial law aspects as well as Court Practice. Her practice also includes corporate/commercial litigation and she serves as general counsel for corporations and organizations across a variety of industries. Her legal skills range from general corporate law to commercial contracts, mergers and acquisitions transactions and capital markets.
During the last 24 years, Marilena’s professional career has spanned regulatory policy, trade law and corporate/commercial law experience in, amongst others, the following roles: Head of Legal Department (internal affairs) of SHELMAN Group (Wood Product Industry, listed in the Athens Stock Exchange and subsidiaries/affiliated companies in Greece and in Romania; Independent legal advisor to trading companies; Senior Associate at «KG Law Firm».
Her professional experience covers every aspect of corporate governance and business regulation. Relevant regulatory experience includes handling a large number of corporate issues, such as organising, supervising and performing Legal Audits as well as drafting of Due Diligence Reports for listing or M&A’s of companies, corporate transactions (mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures), as well as legal reviewing of all major corporate issues and assistance to top management executives, representation of companies before Ministries, Governmental Authorities, Capital Market Committee, Athens Stock Exchange, Association of Greek Industries, Banking Institutions.
Marilena also concentrates on providing both contentious and non-contentious employment law advice in a wide variety of contexts, with an emphasis on employment issues for employers. Her practice comprises contentious, commercial and advisory employment experience. She advises on the HR aspects of company and business acquisitions and disposals, and outsourcing transactions, major employers in dismissal, discrimination, equal pay and whistle-blowing cases, and advises corporate clients on the full range of day-to-day employment issues as well as data privacy matters.
In addition, she focuses to a significant effect on Financial and Civil Legislation, lease contracts, sale and purchase of real estate, transfer of shares, offshore companies, agency agreements, financing, syndicated loans, loan restructuring, real estate, taxation, regulatory issues. Marilena also has serious experience of litigation regarding debt collection.
Marilena’s law practice encompasses International Trade Law, Insurance Law, Environmental Law, Maritime Law, Taxation Law, Labour Law, Offshore Companies Legislation, Personal Data Protection Legislation. She provides strategic and policy advice to clients in regulatory matters affecting a wide range of sectors.
